About Me
My name is Kayla Coleman and I am a first-year teacher here at Ray-Pec. I graduated from Rockhurst University with a Bachelor of the Arts Degree in Spanish and Secondary Education. I was born in Portland, Oregon but raised in St. Louis, Missouri. I'll be a life long Cardinals fan, but since moving to Kansas City I have developed a deep love for the Chiefs. My husband is named Jordan, and together we have three amazing pets. We have two cats, sisters named Minnie and Plumpy. (Yes, Plumpy is fat.) We also have a miniature schnauzer named Rosie, who is just over a year old.
I fell in love with Spanish when I was in high school. I had a great teacher. She was tough, her class was difficult, and she had high expectations. She was also incredibly caring, interested in my life, and supported my learning in the best ways she could. When the content became difficult, she never let me give up and I appreciate that to this day. During my two years as her student, she fostered an interest for the etymology of the Spanish language as well as the diverse cultures. Pursuing a teaching career in Spanish for me was an obvious choice. I love what I do, and I'm happy to be here at Ray-Pec!
